Photographs and postcards of Lynbrook and surrounding areas including pictures of churches, schools, houses, the Long Island Rail Road, Sunrise Highway and other views. Series of note include pictures by village photographer John Cribben, 1956-1989, showing streets, stores, public buildings and other scenes; pictures of the Dayton family, 1900-1965, showing parades, sports teams, the fire department, and family members, especially James Harry Dayton (d. 1921) who was village president, fire chief and school trustee; Himes family photographs showing schools, businesses, streets in the village, and family members, 1892-1930; and photo album, with miscellaneous letters, notes, programs and clippings, of Leo Bock. Bock's photographs include pictures of the Home Guard from Lynbrook drilling and parading, 1917-1918 with a picture of Theodore Roosevelt reviewing the troops at the Mineola Fairgrounds; Red Cross nurses, and women working on the Military Census, 1917; Lynbrook Boy Scouts camping, 1915, including scenes at Camp Wauwepex, Wading River, N.Y., also Boy Scouts working to support the war effort, 1917-1918; the first electric train in Lynbrook; Sunrise Highway in the 1940s and 1950s; the Lynbrook Lyceum; theater groups, sports teams, clubs, parades and other groups and scenes around Lynbrook, with some photos from Valley Stream, Long Beach, and other places on Long Island.
